Theatrical production company Bloomsbury House is run by Windsor-born artist and educator Martin Ouellette, who writes about himself in the third person only when he is a business, and his wife Carly Morrison-Hart, who has a background in theatrical design, photography, film acting and production, and gallery management. They also operate churchwoodpictures.com, which produced all the PR materials you see in our photostream below.

A graduate of UWindsor’s arts faculty with an Artist in Community Education I/S B.Ed. from Queen’s University, Martin’s local directing credits include Red, The Mousetrap, and Marjorie Prime (Bloomsbury House, co-direct with Carly Morrison-Hart), Evil Dead: The Musical, Not Another High School Murder!, and Pirates of Penzance (Extension-Korda), Fiddler on the Roof (co-direct w/Cardinal Music Productions), Macbeth (Korda Artistic Productions, co-direct w/Sean Westlake), and Curious George: The Golden Meatball (Bloomsbury House at the Chrysler Theater).

Set design credits include all of the above, as well as Sweeney Todd (Cardinal Music Productions), Brundibar (inTune), True West (Post Productions), Little Mermaid (WLMT), and Singin’ in the Rain (WLMT).

Regionally he is known for playing diverse roles including Dysart in Equus (Post Productions), Bobby in Company, Matt in Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play, Captain Hook in Peter Pant(o), and Cliff in Cabaret (Korda Artistic Productions), Beast in Disney’s Beauty & the Beast and Professor Callahan in Legally Blonde (WLMT), as well as Donkey in Shrek: The Musical and the voice of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors (Cardinal Music Productions).

Martin’s performance career spans more than three decades, including stints in touring rock music as co-founder of the Toronto-based band Tenth Planet (with music licensed to Red Bull, Nickelodeon, and others) and commercial acting and modeling for corporate clients including Bacardi, Rogers Communications, CTV, Pillsbury, and Molson Canadian.

Recent screen acting credits include the winning entry in the 2022 WIFF 48 Hour Flick Fest and local commercials for clients including CTV, Motor City Community Credit Union, and The Lighting Boutique, alongside several independent and student films and a feature role on the US cable hit Fear Thy Neighbor. He is represented by Hailey Joy of Fusion Talent.

In addition to developing our own compelling and entertaining theatre works, Bloomsbury House provides rentals, dramaturgy, and production consulting.
